Interview with a fellow Blogger

If you would like to particpate in a interview just send me an email or leave me a comment. It's always fun getting to know another blogger!

I'm excited to announce that Mama. M from My Little Life will be my first Mommy blogger interview!! She has 5 wonderful kids and a hilarious sense of humor! We both just happen to have that fabulous mid-west accent! She also hosts 5 Question Friday. So stop by her blog and check it out.

1.When did you start blogging and why?

I started blogging in April of '09 as a way to journal my daily life. I'm not a scrapbooker, so I thought having a blog would be an ideal way for me to "scrapbook" my favorite photos and kidisms. It turned into so much more than I ever imagined! I have met some amazing people, made some real friendships, discovered a love for photography, and found an outlet (addiction?) that I never knew I needed!

2. Do you have a favorite blog that you follow?
I do...and it is so predictable, but I've gotta be honest. The Pioneer Woman. She makes me laugh, she makes me fat (her recipes are yummy!), and she gives us photos of her handsome husband in his chaps. What's not to like?!

3. What has been your favorite thing about blogging?
I love the community of women I've discovered! Try explaining the blogging community to non-bloggers, and they'll look at you like you're crazy...but it's awesome. The support, the encouragement, the chiding and joking is so much fun. I love it!

4. How do you survive the cold weather during the winter in Minnesota?
Lot's and lot's of snuggling and hot chocolate! ;) And, warming my frozen hands on my children's backs! Why do you think I have so many kids?! When one back gets cold from my hands...there's another warm one waiting!!

5. I see that your son plays baseball! Whats your favorite baseball watching snack(sunflower seeds, popcorn, etc)?
Mmmmm...I love baseball snacks! My favorite is Tootsie Pops! Preferably orange ones...but anything other than those nasty chocolate ones will do! I've also discovered that Salt and Pepper Sunflower seeds are the bee's knees, but I discovered that on our road trip to South Dakota, not during baseball!

Thank You so much Mama. M!!

5 Question Friday

So sorry no vlogging today! I know, I know you really want to watch me make a fool of myself...but not today!

1. How many pets do you have?
I have the most precious little guy named Boots!! I love him...oh and he is a cat. He doesn't believe it though. I also have a Australian Cattle Dog name Kora and a few fishies!!

2. If you could switch places with anyone in the world for one day, who would it be?
Superman....or somebody that could fly. I think it would be so cool to fly all around. Imagine the sites!!

3. What is your favorite money saving tip?
Put it in the bank right away. Cash tends to burn a hole in your pocket.

4. What do you want your kids to be when they grow up?
Well I don't have kids but eventually I would want...
1. Doctor- So they could take care of me when I'm old.
2. Chiropractor- Yes! Free back cracking
3. Starbucks Manager- Discount for their Mom
4. Kohl's Manager- Gotta get me some discounted old lady clothes!

5. What is your favorite quote?
And in the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years.
- Abraham Lincoln

The Money Issue-
Most families I babysit for have a set wage per hour that they stick to. They make sure to pay me right when I arrive so they don't forget later on. Except one family....normally they just hand me $20 and that either covers 3 hours or 10 hours. That's when they actually remember. I feel bad when they forget to pay me or when they promise to drop by some money later. Because in the end I never get payed. So remember to have a set wage for your babysitter and don't forget to pay her. She is working for you!

Coming Home When You Say You Will-
Most families are great about coming home on time!! If they are running late it's no more then 15 minutes. On the other hand another family I babysit for is hours off!! The first time I ever babysat they said they would be home around 5pm....1:30am they finally make it home!! I missed my cousins Graduation party. When I brought up my missing the party they said I should of called!! They would of let my bring their kids with me. What!? I felt like they thought my time was less valuable then theirs...and I didn't get paid more!!

Cancelling at the Last Minute-
Most babysitters believe it or not have a life. They set aside time for your kids...chances are they gave up an outing with friends to babysit. So cancelling 15 minutes before I have to babysit isn't cool.

Adding another kid to the mix-
I would love to watch Jack and Jane but don't surprise me with the neighbor kids when I arrive. Please plan that ahead of time!!

I hope you dont mind my ranting and raving. I've dealt with everything on this list except when they cancelled 25 minutes later they needed me again!! Ugh..

Inverview with a fellow blogger part 5

I cant believe Im on interview 5 already!! I just want to thank everybody once again for participating. I plan on continuing with interviewing fellow bloggers. If you would like to get interviewed just send me an email or leave me a comment. It's always fun getting to know another blogger!

This weeks interview is with Kate. Her blog is called "Little Something."  She also has a blog designing business called Whimsical Designs!! She is very creative and has a knack for blogging.

1. When did you start blogging and why?
I've been blogging since November of 2009, but it was solely for the purpose of keeping my fictionpress (a site where you can post your stories, poems, song lyrics, etc.) readers updated with my work. In late March I decided to switch gears and transform my blog into something more purposeful and versatile.

2. Do you have a favorite blog that you follow?
There are so many blogs I enjoy reading. But yes, I do have a favorite, and I would recommend her blog to anyone looking to be inspired or just uplifted - Kelle is so positive and upbeat. I love her writing. Here's the link to her blog.

3. Were you surprised that people were actually interested in your blog?
Extremely. I originally thought that my blog was going to be more of a personal diary - a record of my high school years that no one would find interesting or worth reading. I was very surprised.

4. What has been your favorite thing about blogging?
All of the new friends and relationships I've formed. It has been so exciting to be able to discover new bloggers - teen and adult alike - and get to know them.

5. When did you start blog designing and why?
I took an HTML/CSS class my freshman year, and very quickly learned that I had a knack for it. After the semester course came to a close I began self-teaching myself more and more of the code. After really jumping into the blogging world and discovering new, beautifully-designed blogs, I decided I wanted that for my own blog. At first I seeked help from a designer to design my blog - but then I realized, "hey, I can do this. I know HTML, and graphic design can't be that hard." So I tried it. To more specifically answer the question, I started designing in late May and I do it because honestly, I love it. It's fun for me.

6. Whats your favorite part about summer?
Definitely sleeping in ;).

Interview with a fellow blogger Part 4

This weeks blogger is Brittney from Zig-Zags and Polka Dots!!

I actually just recently stumbled across her blog myself. She enjoys baking and is heading into her sophomore year of college!

1.When did you start blogging and why?
I am not sure exactly when I created my blog but my first post was March 2, 2010!

2.Do you have a favorite blog that you follow?
Yes! I love Bake at 350 ( She always has great recipes or tips! She has some really cute cookies too! I wish I could make cookies as well as her. :)

3.Were you surprised that people were actually interested in your blog?
Like most bloggers, I would have to say yes. I never thought I would have gotten followers. But if you are active and comment on other blogs, join linky parties, and advertise, just be patient and sure enough some followers will appear.

4.What has been your favorite thing about blogging?
My favorite thing about blogging would be that its a challenge. That might sound kinda strange but let me explain. Coming up with things to write and post about that others will find interesting is not super easy. It takes some thought and planning...for me at least. Lol. It is a challenge to not just give up. When I don't have many followers I can't help but think that it is pointless. But it is important to not give up!

5.You mention you like baking! When did you become a "baker" and why?
I had been on stumbling from site to site and a stumbled upon a food blog. I looked around and it made baking look so fun! So I jotted down some recipes and went to the kitchen to create stuff myself. I fell in love with it! I absolutely LOVE making cupcakes! They are just so cute and so many different options!

6.Tell me a random fact about yourself!
Lets see....a random fact...hmm...OH! I can wiggle my ears!! Haha

5 Question Friday

1. Have you ever visited another country?
Canada!! Isn't that exciting?

2. Where is the strangest place you have ever been?
Well my friend once lived out in the country. One day went "exploring" and crossed a few corn fields and ended up in some woods/forest. There was a barely visible path so we followed it into the woods. Until in the distance we saw this green looking car. So we ran up to it and it was an army truck thing!! So creepy. It looked like it was abandoned. Weeds were growing all around it. Scary!!!

3. What is your favorite season?
My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. Yummy food, amazing smells, and black Friday the very next day! Plus you still have Christmas Vacation to look forward to.

4. What one song will always cheer you up?
Bad Day- Daniel Powter
I'm almost positive this song was not meant to cheer anybody up, because it's about a bad day. I just have an inside joke with my best friend about it. So this song always brings a smile to my face!

5. What Disney character do you resemble most?
Sleeping Beauty!! I love sleep. haha

Wednesday, August 11, 2010

My good ole' friend Zach just got his appendix taken out. Please pray for recovery. He is going to hate me once he found out I put this picture online!!
We have known each other our whole lives!! We got a love/hate relationship. Like siblings ask anybody.

Interview with a fellow blogger Part 3

Interview #3!! I've really enjoyed getting to know everybody through these interviews. Thank you for participating!

Ann from Livin and Lovin is a teen blogger! This fall she is heading on to her first year of college. Her blog is about her daily life and everything in between. Read on to find out more about her....

1. When did you start blogging and why?
I first started out reading blogs. I loved reading them and they inspired me to create my own blog last May. I wanted to be able to write down my feelings and thought that blogging would be a great way to document my life. I want to be able to look back and remember all that's happened!

2. Do you have a favorite blog that you follow?
Hummm, I read so many amazing blogs. I don't think that I have one that is my absolute favorite but I do like particular genres of blogs. Obviously, I love teen blogs :), and I love blogs about multiples like Steece's Pieces.

3. Were you surprised that people were actually interested in your blog?
Oh yes! I was definitely surprised. When I first started blogging, I didn't expect much at all and I told myself I'd be happy with just 5 followers! Now I have so many fabulous readers and I am so grateful and humbled that they're interested in what I have to say.

4. What has been your favorite thing about blogging?
My favorite thing is definitely the community and relationships that you can form through blogging. I love learning from other people, sharing experiences, and getting other people's feedback. Bloggers are so loving and supportive!

5. So you're heading to college this fall! Any idea on what you want to major in yet?
Yes, I'm going to college in less than a month!! Exciting and scary all at the same time! I am going into college as a Business major. I think Business offers a lot of flexibility and I think it'll be fun. I'm still keeping my options open and may decide to change majors, however, I am definitely a Business major for now!

6. I was reading your blog and you mentioned liking Rachel McAdam's. Who I love! Whats your favorite movie and why?
My favorite movie is A Walk to Remember. Unfortunately Rachel McAdams isn't in it, ha! But it is still an amazing movie. I love the romance aspect of it and it is amazing to see how one person can transform another. I always have to hold back tears!
Thank You so much Ann!!!

5 Question Friday

1. Are you a neat sleeper or a messy sleeper?

Messy. I don't move around much instead I kick the blankets on and off constantly throughout the night. I've given up even trying to remake my bed(Great excuse if I do say so myself!! I hate making my bed.)

2. Fill in the blank. I wish I was more ________________.
Artsy. I admire those people that can create something out of nothing!

3. What is something that you wish you had been warned about?
Guys and what jerks they are!! Sure, I got the "Boys are only looking for one thing" speech about a million times. But when they aren't looking for that they are just put it lightly.

4. What was the best thing you ever found at a garage sale/flea market?
I love garage sales!! I find so many things that I cant remember just one single best thing.
One of my favorite things though was a Teddy bear dressed in blue overalls named Jake. My Grandma bought it for me a while back. Whenever it pops up it brings a smile to my face.

5. If you could have any meal brought to you right now, what would it be
BBQ Chicken. That sounds so good! Oh and corn....on the cob....I love corn!

A week ago my childhood crush came into town. It got me thinking about the past and all those crazy memories with old friends and how much we have all changed.

There was a group of us and we all took different paths of life. I've only stayed in contact with a few of them. We all grew up going to church with amazing Christian parents. All with great potential...but not all of us grasped that.....

One is going to become a dad soon out of wed-lock, another decided she has bi-sexual, one has joined the airfoce, while another gained a fake i.d. and uses it often.

Eight great kids....that went their separate ways. Three out of the eight haven't gone the worldly way. Really? I knew these kids, we grew up together! Now we live separate lives. People I once considered my best friends and now...I don't know them anymore.

That girl sleeping with anyone she can....years ago we spent hours together laughing about our inside jokes. Today I get drunk calls late at night from her...

The girl that is bi-sexual...she spent many nights at my house. My parents considered her another daughter...if they only knew that she is so insecure that she sleeps with any guy that will give her attention. After many failed attempts at telling her what she is doing is wrong....Ive lost one of my best friends.

Today 5/8 of my best childhood friends that started as great christian kids..don't consider themselves Christians. What went wrong?

"It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age, if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace." (Hebrews 6:4-6)

We've shared memories that I wouldn't wanted to share with anyone else.

Fights that I love laughing about with you.

Vacations to Colorado together.
Remember that hail storm we get caught in while hiking up that mountain?

Somehow we've managed to stay friends and ended up being in high school together!!
I will always cherish the time spent with my crazy ridiculous best friend.
I cant wait to see what the future has in store for you.
Happy Birthday!!

Interview with a fellow blogger part 2!

Carlotta is the author of Pastor's Girl's Ponderings! She so kindly answered a few questions for me.

She is a great photographer and has some amazing photos on her blog. She is home schooled and loves office supplies(at least that's what I get from her pictures!) =) So check out her blog!

1.When did you start blogging and why?
I technically started blogging in September of 2006, because my mom had a blog and I of course wanted to do everything she did ;) For about three years I posted twice a month or so. In August of last year, I challenged myself to write a post everyday for a month, no matter how hard it would be. I discovered that I loved blogging, and continued posting everyday. Soon I discovered that there were tons of other bloggers out I love blogging so much and I never want to stop ;)

2. Do you have a favorite blog that you follow?
Oh wow, this is hard. I have so many wonderful blogs that I read it's next to impossible to pick a favorite! Is it okay if I pick my top three? Olivia at Everyday Musings, Hannah at Aspire, and MckMama, the latter I'm sure y'all know.

3.Were you surprised that people were actually interested in your blog?
Are you kidding me? Yes, yes, and yes! I'm still stunned every time someone leaves a comment. Or becomes a follower. It amazes me that people love my photography, my writing. It's so encouraging and uplifting!

4. What has been your favorite thing about blogging?
Definitely meeting wonderful new people. There are so many incredible blogs out there...

5.You have many beautiful photographs on your blog! What inspired you to become a photographer?
Aww, thank you! In the summer of 2008, during a family reunion, I saw everyone taking pictures. I thought about how nice it would be to have my own camera. A few months later, I bought my first camera, just a regular point and shoot. I first I just took random shots, mostly of my siblings. Once I got more into blogging, I saw other peoples' beautiful photos. It inspired me to take more pictures; to experiment more. I posted a few photographs on my blog, and got many positive comments on them, which encouraged me even farther. Finally this summer, I got my first DSLR, a "big girl" camera. I can only hope that I continue to grow as a photographer!

6.You mention your many siblings a lot in your blog. Do you enjoy having such a big family?
Hehe, yes I do talk about them a's kind of hard not to when they're so crazy ;) I do like having a big family. There are times that I wish I were an only child (I think that only when I'm irritated with my siblings, of course :)), but I've discovered miss them when they're not around. I know I can always turn to my brother if I want someone to laugh at my jokes...he thinks I'm the funniest thing :)

Thank you so much Carlotta!! It was great learning more about you.

Check out my first interview with Laura from Searching for Starlight!
