Have you ever noticed that some small things in life are just plain awesome!? If not then you sure have a bad outlook on life. Here are a few of my favorite awesome things

1. Actually staying friends with an Ex
Sure, for some people this would not be an awesome thing! Unless you break up on good terms and say the typical "Lets stay friends" phrase. The majority of the time you don't stay friends and things get awkward. Except those few that actually make an effort to stay friends! They text you every once in a while and ask about your life. When you run into them at the store, they give you a hug and you chat for a bit! Awesome

2. Snow Days
Waking up to find out that you can go back to sleep because it's a snow day! Awesome

3. The perfect peanut butter to jelly ratio
Everybody has their way of making a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. One side jelly, one side peanut butter(my favorite!). Both sides peanut butter with jelly in the middle(Sisters favorite). Whats your perfect peanut butter and jelly sandwich combo? When you bite into it and get the perfect amount of peanut butter and jelly. Awesome

4. Finding out the item you just bought(and thought was full price) was actually on sale!
I love when I get to the cash register, they ring up the total, and the price was less then I planned for!

5. Roadtrips
Pile the girls(or guys. Maybe even a combo!) in the car and take off on an adventure. No matter how well you plan for a road trip something not planned always tends to happen! Which is my favorite part of a road trip. The conversations, memories, and bonds that happen on a road trip are awesome. Did I ever tell you the story about how my friend managed to drink a liter of Mountain Dew in the middle of the country(no gas stations for miles!), the only radio stations we could get was country and gospel, and we all had to pee!? Good times!

6. Leaving your belt in your pants for tomorrow.
I'll be the first person to admit that I re-use jeans. Sometimes I get lazy and don't feel like doing laundry. Ill grab a pair of jeans on the floor and wallah my belt is already looped through! Nice and convenient.

7. Laughing at something and a stranger laughing with you.
Ever see something hilarious happen in public? You laugh and then you hear it! The stranger not to far away laughs too! Awesome

8. Summer
Summer in general is just awesome! No school to attend, warm weather to enjoy, sprinklers to run through, pools to jump in, bikes to ride, shorts to wear, old friends to see, bonfires to enjoy, late night walks, and fireflies to catch! I miss summer!

9. Seeing an old friend
I love when you meet up with an old friend that you haven't seen forever. You laugh, squeal, and hug each other. Then the talking begins! You laugh about the past, tell each other about the present, and act like no time has passed at all. You immediately re-form the bond you once had!

10. Sleepovers
You pack your bags in excitement for what the night will bring. You don't plan on getting much sleep, but the memories you will create is worth! Not only to you get to spend 1 day with your friend but you get the whole night, and next day too!

11. Pretending to leave
You must admit you have done this at least once in your lifetime! Your friend gets out of the car(and plans to get back in eventually) So you wait until they start walking back. Then you put the car in drive and start driving away. The look on their face is priceless, especially when they start to run!

12. Forgetting to do your homework and finishing in class right before you are suppose to turn it in!
The previous night was hectic(or you just didn't feel like doing your homework) and the next day you walk into class and realize you didn't do the assignment! You quickly get to it and if you have nice friends they will help you out! Then as you are placing that last answer on the sheet, your teacher asks for you homework. "One second Mrs. B I just have to right my name on it!"

13. Old People
Some people thing old people smell, are annoying, and lack any excitement. I just think their smell is part of their charm, and they have so much wisdom to give! I especially love little old ladies that have just gotten back from their Catholic mass. They smell like old perfume, their white hair is curled, lipstick applied and they are dress in their best outfits! So cute!! Oh and some of the things they say...HILARIOUS!

14. Totally guessing and getting it right
The feeling when you guess for an answer and it ends up being right! Awesome

It's Offical

I didn't want to mention this on my blog until it was 100% going to happen. Finally the dates are set, plane tickets bought, and support letters sent out.

This summer I will be going on a mission trip to Haiti! We will be conducting a vacation bible school in Caneille, Haiti. I will be going with people I've known forever too! My best friend Shannon, Linda, Sarah, and another girl I haven't met yet.

It seems so unreal. I've wanted to go on a mission trip for a long time. I even had a stage where I insisted I was going to be a missionary.

Your prayers will be greatly appreciated! I'm so excited for the future and the impact this trip will have on me.
I'll keep you updated when I learn more.

Have you gone on a mission trip? If so Id love to hear about your experience!

Me too

Living Life

You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.

-Joe Lewis

I love life.

Plain and simple. Sure I deal with bumps in the road but after all that I consider life an amazing gift!

I always said I wanted to live life to the fullest. Meaning take risks, do crazy things, have fun, and enjoy life as it is!

Recently I was thinking about that's how we as sinners think about living life to the fullest. Having fun, doing our own thing, and not caring about what could happen. In reality that's how selfish we all are. We have one life here on earth to live.

Of course we want to enjoy our time here but God has a purpose for our lives too! He wants us to live life to the fullest honoring him! Which can be just as fun and rewarding if we allow it to be!

I've been changing my thoughts on living life to the fullest. I believe that witnessing to unbelievers, living a christian life, and actually allowing God to work through you is living the life he gave you to the fullest!

Remember every single person has ONE life to live on earth. Whether or not they are a believer. Maybe your purpose is to plant that seed in their heart about God. Giving them the chance to live the life God intended for them.

But instead you are living your life the way the world tells you too.

How are you living life to the fullest? Are you being selfish and worldly?

A glimpse into the future

My friend Sarah was recently in a play at school.

She was an old lady!

It made me excited for the future. In 60 years I will be playing Bingo with this girl!

The grey hair, sweaters, tea, and bingo!

I imagine a few more wrinkles....and that special grandma scent.

She will still be as beautiful as ever though...we both will be!

Brat Child

A while ago I was waiting outside the front door of my sisters school. A random little girl passed by me and said "Hi Rae" I smiled and nodded at her. I had know idea who that girl was!

My little sister then walked out with a group of giggling girls. One of them asked, "Is that Rae?" My sister then replied "Yep that's the one!" I then smiled(thinking she must of mentioned having a COOL older sister)

Then all the girls burst out laughing!

Later in the car she said they told funny stories in class and she mentioned a few of my EMBARRASSING stories to her entire class!! I was pissed that she shared those stories! I wont tell any of them on here because they are REALLY embarrassing!

Apparently I cant show my face ever again at her elementary school! Good thing she doesn't invite many girls over! I wouldn't be able to go home then either!

Seriously, I have bad elementary school memories. Involving groups of giggling girls. Never thought my sister would bring it all back!

Little Brat!

Snow Day

Last night I clicked the refresh button a million times just to see if my school would pop up under the "Cancelled tomorrow" category. I ended up going to bed not knowing if I would have to drag myself out of bed the next morning and head to school or sleep in!

Lucky for me when my 1st alarm(I have 5 total. Getting me up is very difficult!) went off I looked at my phone and someone had texted me" Snow day today!" I didn't even pay attention to who sent it or double check online if it was for real. I just turned off my alarms and fell back asleep.

Thank goodness it actually was a snow day! I only slept in till 10am. Lately I haven't been able to sleep much later then that unfortunately. I can just imagine you mothers reading this and only wishing you could sleep in till 10! Sorry.

So far I have done nothing productive. Showered. Blogged. Checked Facebook.

It's been a nice break. I really needed one. School recently has been really getting to me. Not the actually learning part but the people. I'm sick of the judging by others, drama, and other typical high school things.

Did I mention I love snow days!?

You know you've been babysitting to long when....

I've been babysitting for the same family for the past 5 years! They were my 1st babysitting job and I haven't looked back since. They have two little boys(Aged 7 and 3) that are more like brothers. When I babysit them(mostly over-night) I feel like I'm at home and I'm treated like that.

Here is a list of things that have fallen into our routine with them. Not typical babysitter stuff but hey the parents and the kids love me!
  • They ask for you to lay with them when trying to fall asleep and you do. Half the time falling asleep yourself! Good thing they share a King size bed!
  • You know all their allergies and favorite foods.
  • You know what time to give them their medication and how much.
  • When you spend the night and fall asleep in the guest room(Compared to with them) they eventually crawl in bed with you in the middle of the night.
  • When spending the night their moms says "You can sleep on the couch, guestroom, or with them!"
  • The oldest confides with me things I never wanted to know about his parents!
  • They know if they are good I will let them stay up a whole 10 minutes after their bedtime! ha
As  much as I complain about babysitting I love the bond you form with these kids. I still remember stories about my old babysitters! I hope that they have as many memories of me, as I do of them.

Cant stop me

I get scared about the future and failing.

My entire life I wanted to be a nurse. When I was a little kid I just thought you could declare what you wanted to be and then go to work. I never thought about college and everything involved with following your dream.

I've struggled with science my entire life. I could never grasp it and it would never stick in my memory.

The thing is nursing deals with a lot of SCIENCE!

I started giving up on my dream of becoming a nurse. I thought maybe I could do something with English. I'm good at English! Until my feelings towards science changed.

This year I'm taking Biology. It's apparently one of the hardest classes at my school. Last semester I got a C but that's only because I slacked off in the beginning. Until we started learning about the body, cells, and DNA. I found it exciting and interesting! It seemed to stick and I started getting better grades on test.

The fact that I understand and love learning about things dealing with the human body made my spark for nursing re-appear. Biology wasn't holding me back anymore.

I must say it's a God thing.

I cant believe I was going to let a minor thing stop me from following my dream!

Enjoying the moment

I love the memories I create with these girls! How they except me for who I am. I love them to the moon and back. Without them life wouldn't be the same. I'm glad to be able to enjoy my fleeting days of youth with them. To be able to look back at the memories we created makes me less scared of what the future will bring.

I guess when it comes down to it

Being grown up isn't half as fun as growing up

These are the best days of our lives

The only thing that matters is living your life to the fullest.

And enjoying it with the people you love!

My Cat

My cat is one of my best friends. Which sounds really strange and I promise I'm not some sort of crazy cat lady. He has been there since I was a little kid and is part of the family. He is 8 years old and is a great cat.

He is so laid back and lets you carry him around like it's nothing. I use to pretend he was my baby and dress him up in dresses and tie him in the stroller. Come to think of it I'm surprise he is still alive!

Before you call PETA I promise you he is safe and he isn't least not lately.

This is a bad picture of my angel but he doesn't like his picture being taken! Yes, he is on the counter(Not suppose to be!) but my Mom wasn't home. Don't tell her!

5 Question Friday

1. Would you rather be on ABC's Extreme Home MakeOver or TLC's What not to Wear?
Oh that's a tough question! I think I would like a new house! Sure new clothes would be nice but fashion changes so fast. Soon your wardrobe would be out of style and you'd be back where you began....unfashionable and out of date. So I pick ABC's Extreme Home Makeover.

2. Do you have any tattoos?
No but I plan on getting one when I turn 18...even though my friend Sarah insists that I don't. I want "Carpe Diem" tattooed somewhere(haven't decided for sure yet) and I want my mom to write something out and to get it tattooed. Thinking Tramp stamp.

3. Do you tell your kids about things you did growing up?
Don't have kids yet but I don't plan on sharing every little detail(Good and Bad) of my past. Sure Ill share some things and maybe use them as examples if needed. If my kid wants to hear about my childhood I'm sure I'll have plenty of funny stories to tell them.

4. If the traffic signal turns yellow, do you stop or speed up?
I only have my temps so I drive with my parents. They of course force me to stop. When I can drive by myself I'll probably speed up.

5. What's your preference: chocolate or chips?
Can I mix them and form Chocolate Chips? I love chocolate but I can only have so much. Chips on the other hand I can munch on them all day! I guess I prefer chocolate because I eat less! Better for the hips.

Random thoughts Ive had this week

  • Why do so many kids smoke pot in my drivers ed class?
Seriously we have a 10 minute break in the middle of our 2 hour class. Every class they go outside and return smelling like pot. I asked my friend if this happened at her class and she said "Yes!" Are people that stupid? They are between the ages of 15-17 and they are okay with smoking pot in front of the entire world? Kind of scares me to see future generations.

  • How many months till school is out?
Four more long months! Hopefully I can survive!

  • Why did I decide to take tech ed!?
I'm terrified of machines that could take off my fingers! Except I'm in a class that you use those machines to build things out of wood! Talk about scary

  • I miss flip-flops
I seriously miss them! I'm not a sock fan but I don't want my shoes smelling like nasty foot odor. So I deal with my toes being covered all winter long(or until the snow is gone) and then I bring out my flip-flops or thongs as my mothers calls them. I cant bring myself to say "thongs" though. I keep telling her people don't wear them on their feet anymore!

  • I hope I don't crash
That's what I think every time I get into the drivers seat. I'm terrified of driving but my mother has grown use to my being chauffeured everywhere! She was my chauffeur and I'm not to happy seeing her sit there!

  • Is Emory ever going to keep his clothes on?
This kid is four years old and still likes to strip when he gets to our house and his. He keeps his clothes on everywhere else! Drives me crazy but he is just so cute!

  • His last name wouldn't work!
I actually had those thought a few weeks ago but I thought it was funny. My friend and I were being random and brought up how this one guy in our class was cute. I then replied "I thought about that but his last name wouldn't work with my baby names!" Weird thing to come out of a teenagers mouth but I'm not someone who will date just to have a guy in her life. He needs to meet some requirements! Declan Claflin...sounds horrible right?

Nerds and their games

I swear the strangest things happen to me! Most of it is unbelievable and weird but it happens to me.

First off you need to know that at the mall where the movie was playing is a game place. They sell Pokemon cards and other games that involve cards. So they pull tables out into the mall and nerds play with their cards and action figures. Teenagers and adults playing Pokemon and other strange games.

My friend(not boyfriend. Critical to know for this story) Aiden and I decided to go see a movie. I misread the time that the movie started so we were there 45 minutes early. We decided to just chill in the mall. We sat near the nerds and overheard this conversation that went something like this.

Nerd 1: I really need to find a girl...your roll.
Nerd 2: You do? What happened to that one girl. I want to attack that one.
Nerd 1: Bad choice...hand over the monster! She said that I needed to grow up.
Nerd 2: Damn! I should of called that move. Don't worry you will find that special girl...maybe even here.
Nerd 1: I saw some pretty girls here before.
Nerd 2: End of game. Tonight you shall find a girl!
Nerd 1: How about that one?

At this time I'm bursting out laughing! Hoping they didn't know I was eavesdropping and laughing at them. Then Aidens dad calls and Nerd 1 starts walking over!!!

Nerd 1: I just noticed you sitting here and was wondering if you want to get a sandwich with me. They have a place in the mall....umm over there!

I start feeling around for Aidens hand. He was still talking with his dad and was probably wondering why I decided to hold his hand.

Me: Actually I'm dating this guy. Sorry
Nerd 1: I'm so sorry! I should of guessed. Have a good date!

Finally Aiden got off the phone and says to me with a completely straight face

Aiden: Since we are dating now do I have to pay for the movie?
Me: and the popcorn.

Green and Yellow win the Superbowl

My voice is gone, my heart is still beating ridiculous fast, and Im still pumped up. After an amazing game my team game out with a win.

A team that wasnt even in consideration to get this far.

A team that barely made the playoffs.

A team that has had many ups and downs.

Schools have been closed tomorrow! Roads have been shut down tonight and tomorrow. We go all out for our team!

(hahaha I keep imagining Brett Favres face as the Packers won the Superbowl!)

Private Vs. Public

I've gone to both public and private schools. They definitly both have there pros and cons. I have had my fair share of schools going to 3 Elementary Schools, 2 Middle Schools, and hopefully only 1 high school so far. Here is what I've liked and disliked about each..

Private School
  • Smaller Classes = More one-on-one time
  • More one-on-one time forms better relationships with teachers(Meaning you can get them off track easier!)
  • Most likely be able to play any sport you want and actually play not sit on the bench(sometimes)
  • You get a lot of classes with your friends!
  • More freedom. I tend to wander the hall during study hall(or a class I'm bored in) and I don't get in trouble. Some teachers have ridiculous hall passes though. Ever have to carry a typewriter case w/ a heavy typewriter in it to go to the bathroom? At my school that's what happens when you have a class in the computer lab.
  • Everybody is like a big family
  • Less restrictions in the curriculum taught

  • Not enough class options! I hate not being able to have a large selection of classes to choose from.
  • Small number of students. You have to spend multiple classes with people you don't like and gossip gets around fast!
  • Everybody knows your business
  • You might have that teacher you dislike for multiple classes!
  • Stricter dress code
  • $$$

  • Lots of class options!
  • More people to associate with
  • Less strict
  • Practically free
  • Less sport playing opportunity's
  • Less one-on-one learning. You become more of a number
  • Private school has its share of  "bad" kids but public schools have a bigger share
  • They push evolution but don't mention creation. Then say how they hate how Christian's push creation on them.
Personally I love private schools. At times I wish I could have a larger variety of people to hang out with and more class options! Other then that I'm happy with the time I've spent in Private schools.

Random Ramblings

Im finally finished with Drivers Ed. I have my temps and will get my license in 6 months! About time let me tell ya. Sometimes I hate being the youngest in my group of friends. Some of them have been driving a full year already! They all hit big milestones and it's a big deal and when Rae finally comes along the excitement has worn down. Then a few weeks after the cycle starts again/ No big deal though. I've gotten use to it.

I've never considered having a sweet 16 birthday. They always seemed cheesy and tacky. Lately I've actually been thinking about maybe actually having one. I always thought having a surprise party would be fun but planning your own surprise party is kind of pathetic.

Today I saw a commercial for Chuck E. Cheese. I jokingly asked my mom if I could have my 16th birthday there! She actually said yes! I was really surprised. My Mom apparently feels bad because I would always ask for my birthday to be there(In the past! I haven't had a birthday party since I was 8) but she would never let me. Chuck E. Cheese would be a funny memory. Not many people would have their 16th birthday there!

I was also thinking about maybe just having a cook-out with friends and family. My birthdays in the summer, and it lands on a Sunday this year. My relatives like giving money!

Tough Decisions I tell ya.

Any Suggestions?

I cant believe January is done with already! We are 1 month into 2011. Time is just flying! In no time it will be 2012! Here are some events happening this year that I cant wait for.
  • My sister is turning 11 on April 21st
  • School is out on June 1st
  • I get my license this summer
  • My little sister will be entering middle school
  • Junior year
I'm excited about the next 11 months!
