Creation Booklets

Before I left to go to Haiti my team created a few art projects for the VBS(Vacation Bible School) we will be holding.
Our theme is creation this year.
We created these "creation" booklets for the kids.
It took a few hours to complete all 200 of them but I know my time was spent well!
I also got to spend time with 2 of my team members, Shannon(Grey shirt/white shirt, Black hair) and Linda(Blue shirt, blonde hair).

Our other team members live in California and Oklahoma so they couldn't join us.

More on other projects in later posts!

On my way

I'm on my way to Chicago at the moment. On my way to a start of a life changing adventure! It seemed like going to Haiti was just an idea but tomorrow I will be waking up in Fort Lauderdale and flying to Port-au- Prince, Haiti.

I'm waiting for the reality of this whole thing to hit me but it hasn't. I feel like I'm in a dream. I cant wait till I get to play with the Haitian children, give my testimony to a group of Haitian women, and hopefully help in every way possible. To do what God has planned for me.

I'm not sure how much Ill be able to get online(if at all) but when I return in August there will be lots of pictures and stories to tell!

Another Sister

This week my friend Sarah stayed with me the entire week. It was fun having another "sister" around the house and this one didn't drive me crazy! Lots of gilmore girls watching, late night talking, ants, and driving.

Eric was also in town which made it a bit hard to hang out but we managed to see each other still. Which included a late night walk to see him, going to cold stone for ice cream, and pulling out the slip n' slide late at night! We had a blast together(Sarah and I...and Eric at night).

Sarah also got to be my first passenger as a licensed driver (besides my mom). It was exciting!

I cant wait till next summer when Sarah hangs out at my house for the entire week again! I enjoyed having her walk into my house after work and say "Im home!".

Funny conversations recently

While walking in Target I took Emory(5) into the baby department(my favorite place). As we walked past all the pictures of the babies in high chairs, strollers, cribs, etc. Emory would point out the state of the baby. I love little kids!

Emory: That baby is sleeping!
Me: What about that baby?
Emory: That baby is alive!
Me: So the baby is either sleeping or alive? Can the baby be awake?
Emory: No the baby cant be awake!

I was trying to get Emory to go play in the sandbox. He is definitely the son of a farmer!

Me: Emory you should go play in the sand box with the bulldozer.
Emory: Its not a bulldozer, that's a skid steer!
Me: Oh my bad...you should go play with the skid steer!
Emory: I don't feel like working right now.

I went to see the fireworks downtown with Emory. He got tired and eventually got a ride on my shoulders.

Emory: Rae Rae! Look...(points towards leg) my legs are tired.
Me: Yea I see.
Emory: Its really tired.....
Me: So are my legs!
Emory: But look mine are more tired!

An interesting conversation with my best friend Shannon

Shannon: Isn't it interesting to think about all the people that have died and are in heaven!
Rae: Yeah it is.
Shannon: Like Michael Jackson!
Rae: That's the first person you thought of? I'm not even sure he is in heaven! What about your Grandma Edith?
Shannon: I cant believe I forgot about Grandma! Michael Jackson before Grandma? She taught me how to sow! Michael Jackson sure didn't!

Some drunk guy named John at taco bell had this interesting conversation with us.

John: Our government is messed up! Just look at this dollar bill (hands Dylan the dollar) What is that? (points to the pyramid)
Dylan: That's the sign of the free masons
John: No, actually that's a pyramid!

I babysat these two adorable kids named Davis(4) and Vivian(1). While walking to the park I was talking with Davis.

Me: What do your parents drive?
Davis: Cars!
Me: Do you drive a car?
Davis: No silly!
Me: Does Vivian drive?
Davis: Yes, she drives a stroller!

Davis: I want a monster truck! Can you tell your Mom to buy me one?
Me: Why do you want my mom to buy you a monster truck? You should ask your Mom!
Davis: Because I know my Mom will say no!

5 Question Friday

1.If your husband had the BIG V and you got pregnant what would your first reaction be? For the dudes, what would your first reaction be if your wife told you she was pregnant after the Big V?

Well Im dont have a husband yet but I think I would be a bit pissed at the doctor. Then I would be happy because God decided to give us another baby.

2. Best memory about this summer so far.
I've had so many amazing memories this summer! I think going to Lifest with my friends was the best though! Spending 5 days in a camper with 5 other people tends to create many good memories! You can read about it here.

3. How often do you change your sheets? Your kids sheets?
I know I should do it more often but maybe once a month. ha Or if Im lucky I'll need to add something to a load of laundry and Ill toss my sheets in.

4. Having just gone through TSA, would you rather have a full-body scan or a pat-down?
Im still trying to decide what Im going to choose for my upcoming trip to Haiti. Im thinking Ill just go with the full-body scan because Id rather not have a random stranger patting me down.
5. Since it is fair time...what's your favorite fair (county or state) memory?
When I was a young foolish immature child (you know like 3 years ago) I went to the fair with my friend Lindsey, her family, and then my family. On the ferris wheel we sat above her sister and we might of purposely dropped a few things on her. Before you go judging remember that was a lllooonnnnggg time ago....I was practically a baby...ahem...next question?

Driving Test

Yesterday was the day I had been dreading, yet looking forward to for a long time!

I woke up at 6:30am and couldnt stop shaking. Which sounds a little ridiculous now that its over!

I drove to the DMV with my Mom.

A mean looking lady called my name. And I was off.

Taking my drivers test. Which wasnt all bad! I did good except for my cellphone alarm going off, she made me pull over to turn it off. That was a bit embarassing.

Well in the end I passed!

It was a lot less scary than I thought it would be.

Im excited about this new freedom!

My 16th golden birthday

My 16th golden birthday just happened to land on a Saturday!
So I decided it was time for a party!
We thought the balloon looked like Larry the cucumber from Veggie Tales!
We had a spaghetti buffet with lots of other food! Eric helped set up the tables in the garage, my mom cooked the food, my sister ran around with my cousins, and Katie curled my hair. The curling part took 1 1/2 hours!
Sarah lighting my candles. Very dangerous situation...she dropped the match!
I invited friends, family, and a few neighbors.
I mainly got money but my friends gave me all sorts of stuff!

Sarah thinking she should become a skater
I got a sippy cup(inside joke), crayons, a CD/movie thing, a decorated "R", lotion, body wash, etc.

One plays basketball and the other skateboards...or at least tries too
We also had a bonfire! It was great except for the mosquito's.
Lots of bug bites!

Elisebeth, Sarah, and Sydney in my room!
My youth leader gave me a sash....I wasn't very keen on wearing it but I did!

The awkward blowing out the candles part of the party.
We also had a game of frisbee going on in the back yard.
I'm not a fan of frisbee and I don't think I ever will be!

Apparently Syd doesn't know how to spell 'very'....hopefully she learns soon!
It was fun getting to see my relatives and share them with my friends! Even though I think they think my friends have serious problems. They are just a bit weird...
Fairy? Butterfly? Flying monkey?
By the end of the night I was tired! I enjoyed turning 16, finally celebrating my golden birthday, and just having fun!
Fire time! Someone is sleepy.
I cant wait to see what 16 has to bring! I'm sure it will be one of the best years so far!

My awesome chair and I! Love the vintage-ness of it!

The Date

Eric was in town for my birthday!

Sorry for the blurry pictures! My camera ran out of battery and we used my moms camera.

On Thursday he drove up from Illinois. He somehow got lost and his phone died when he was getting directions from us. That was a blast.

Then on Friday we did a lot! First we went to my favorite cafe/coffee shop Kavarna! Yummy. We walked around down town for a bit. Looked at expensive furniture that we will never be able to afford. We talked about good quality furniture....sounds really boring but it was fun! I actually love looking at furniture and surprisingly he does too. Crazy. We went to a cd/record store.

We then drove to my Moms consignment store. Dropped off my orchid(because I didn't want it to die in the hot car) and then headed to Bay Beach! We went on the Zippin Pippin roller coaster. I think I played the scared girl very well! Then we decided to go hiking down by my Grandmas farm! Very buggy but he taught me how to skip rocks! Finally we arrived at my house. Watched a movie and played Jenga with my sister and cousin.
Eric and his fancy camera. Should of used that one!

My parents arrived. Invited him to go eat pizza with us. Normally the guy doesn't meet your parents right away but it worked out just fine. They love him!

We finally crashed on Katie's(his cousin/one of my best friends) couch watching Grease. Or actually I fell asleep and Katie and her boyfriend were pre-occupied doing who knows what! Eric woke me up at 12am exactly to tell me it was my birthday! We decided to go drop Katie's boyfriend off at his house, buy a few monster energy drinks, converse with the gas station guy, and head back to Katie's.

He also bought me an orchid and gave me a foot massage.

The next morning he invited me over for some made from scratch pancakes, hash browns, and bacon! I love guys that can cook ( because I sure cant!).
Such a cutie!

Sweet 16

"Birthdays are good for you. Statistics show that the people who have the most live the longest."
-Father Larry Lorenzoni

I have to say that Ive been looking forward to being 16 for a while. When I was young I couldn't wait till I could drive. Being 16 meant only 2 more years till I was an adult. I was born on the 16th meaning my golden birthday would be my sweet 16 too. All my friends are 16(or older) and it would be nice not to be the only 15 year old.

Today I'm finally the age Ive always dreamt about.

It doesn't feel like I thought it would. Not surprising though.

I'm happy to be alive for another birthday. I'm happy to be able to celebrate me(because who doesn't like celebrating themselves?!) with my friends and family. I'm happy to be getting my license soon.

Today I turn 16.

And I'm still not sure what my wish is going to be....because life is pretty good at the moment!

Happy Birthday to Me!!!

It's my birthday

Well technically not until Saturday but Ive been singing "Its my birthday and Ill cry if I want to" a lot.  I normally insert something different then "cry" because "Its my birthday and Ill say what I want to!" Cool, huh?

I like reminding people of the special occasion that occurs once a year on July 16th!

This year is even more special because it's my golden birthday and sweet 16!

I decided to have a birthday party too! It will be my first one in 8 years!

Well that is all. Just thought I should remind my lovely blog readers about my birthday.

Someone specials in town and Id rather not waste my time online....no offence...or "Its my birthday and Ill log off if I want to!".

Late night creation

Beware you, your hips, and diet will be thanking me for this amazing dessert! I call it the late night creation because I don't remember the last time I ate it in daylight. Most likely because people are up while its bright out and I don't want them to see me indulging in such a snack as this....

First you need some ice cream. I suggest you get some Blue Bunny because you can get 2 more scoops out of it!! What a deal. I only had vanilla ice cream on hand but my favorite ice cream flavors to go with this dessert are monster cookie, supreme latte, or super fudge brownie!

Then you put some marshmallows in a bowl and microwave it.
Did you know marshmallows blow up in the microwave? They do!

Then quickly scoop your ice cream on top of the marshmallows!
The hotness of the marshmallows and the coolness of the ice cream create a hard marshmallow shell!
So good!
You then poor some hot cocoa mix on top.
Some chocolate syrup.
And whatever candy you want! I had licorice on hand but I love M&Ms more!

I can only imagine the looks on your face at the moment. As unhealthy as this may be its so worth just trying it once! Forget about the scale, calories, and your diet! This is a must try before you die dessert! Your welcome.

Lifest 2011

Lifest was amazing this year(not that last year wasn't). I made a lot of memories with my besties! If you don't know what Lifest is then you are missing out! Click here for details on it.
The crowd at Hawk Nelsons concert. Toby Mac and Skillet had people behind that gravel!

Syd spying on the neighbors, Sarah texting, and Im taking a picture!
After a bad experience of Leroy(our tents name) getting flooded last year. We decided on getting a camper for this year! It didn't arrive till Thursday so on Wednesday we spent the night in Leroy. That was fun. For a while we could hear a campers generator, a passing train, and a band playing while trying to sleep!
This shade kept getting stuck! We tried everything to get it to roll back up!
On Thursday after we watched Superchick for a while, we decided to take a shower. Of course at 12am we didnt want to stand in line for a hot shower(which we did last year. Longest 2 hours of my life!). Instead we went to a place where they wash farm animals(other people did this too!). The water was so cold! We didnt shower again. ha
This actually worked...sorta.
We finally got your camper. Which we spent a lot of time in! Mostly spying on our neighbors. It was a blast until we realized they could see us(and hear us). That didn't stop us though because creeping people watching is fun!
More creeping on neighbors

We had 6 people staying in the camper(except for one night when we had 8). Which included 2 teenage boys, 3 teenage girls, and 1 adult. The boys were on opposite ends of us, and Andrea(only adult and Zachs mom) was smack dab in the middle. I'm sure she loved that when we were poking fun at each other while trying to sleep. Zach wouldn't help us clean the camper either. So after his Mom yelled at him, then she left, then Zach left, we decided to clean the camper. And toss all the junk in his bunk! Teaches him to mess with us.
Zachs bunk with junk on it.
After Andrea mentioned how unsocial we were and I told her our neighbors were "scary" she walked out and grabbed one of them named Willy. He was in a band that we had saw and didn't like. He came into our camper and ate one of our bread sticks(from Olive Garden). We talked for a while. Then at 2am we decided to make a Taco Bell run! We invited our scary neighbor/new friend to join us. Zach and Jake jumped on the back of the car because they wanted us to drive them to the showers. Zach eventually fell off and then a random kid jumped on. His name was Dylan. We invited him to Taco Bell. He came. Yes, we now had 2 strangers in our car at 2am.

Hawk Nelson concert!
Taco Bell even got more fun! These 2 drunk guys came in and started talking with us. About pyramids on the dollar bill, skate boarding, and about how cool Jesus is...because of course he is! Lots of laughs, and memories were created. Willy and Dylan ended up staying the night in our camper too! Because its Lifest and those things just happen!
Our one night in Leroy.
We also saw great bands like Toby Mac, Skillet, Hawk Nelson, Superchick some scary guy that once played with Korn, Stellar Kart, etc. Toby Mac was the best though! I stood in line for about 2 hours just to get his autograph for my sister. It was hot being on the blacktop but so worth it! She loved the signed poster!
Toby Mac signing autographs!
My view while waiting in line for Toby Mac.
I had an amazing time and cant wait to return next year! Hopefully next year we will get a camper with tinted windows, not have a mini fight(which I wasn't even part of yet I still got kicked out of our "room" with Sarah), not smell horrible, and of course have a great time!

Picture Frames

I was recently in a creative/artsy mood which is a rarity for me! For my friends birthday I decided to create her something special. I decided on a picture frame. It was really easy(otherwise I wouldn't of done it) and they all turn out unique and special! All you need is a picture frame, modge podge, magazine clippings, 1 piece of scrapbook paper(or normal paper), and a paintbrush.

I got a frame from Hobby Lobby for $3.

Then I picked out a cute piece of scrapbook paper for $0.49.

I spent a while going threw old magazines and cutting out pictures/words that I wanted.

I then covered the picture frame, using glue( or modge podge) with the paper.

After that had dried I took a box cutter and cute out the paper.
Make sure it is completely dry otherwise it tends to tear.

Then place your magazine clippings on your frame, and modge podge them on!

You then have a b-e-a-u-tiful frame!
I also added some small wooden pieces(firetruck and 4ever). That's unnecessary but it does add something more to your frame!

4th of July

"We will be soldiers, so our sons may be farmers, so their sons may be artists."
- Thomas Jefferson

I love this quote! We often forget about who sacrificed for the sake of future generations and there freedom. I'm so grateful to live in a country that I'm allowed to be free in.

I hope you all have a wonderful 4th of July and take a moment to remember why our country is free today!

Happy Birthday to my Mom too! Who served 4 years in the Air Force. I love you Mom!

The Weekend part 1

My weekend, which started on Thursday, has been amazing so far! Thursday night was one of those nights where you remember it forever. It ended up only involving 3 of us but that's okay we wouldn't of had any room in the car if more people would of came...we had to share the space with a sign and 2 other things.
The evening started with us seeing a car hit a mama duck and her ducklings, while they were crossing the street. It was so sad! We then had to wait for Sarah to get done with work. So Shannon and I grabbed a few magazines, found a comfy couch, and sat in Shopko until 9pm.

Renting a movie and getting Taco Bell was next on the list.

We took our tacos/burritos to a park and layed out under the stars(that were covered with clouds).
We eventually decided to play on the equipment, have a photo shoot, and then we got bored.

So we piled back into the car. Drove around and got into mischief...something about it being 12am and nothing to do really brings up some interesting ideas! Ideas that I so wish I could share but unfortunately I cant...maybe in a few years I will.

There is more to come on my amazing weekend! I'm off to hang out with my aunts, uncles, and cousins because my aunt is in town from Idaho...we like making any occasion a reason to party!
