Be open to collaboration. Other people and other people's ideas are often better than your own. Find a group of people who challenge and inspire you. Spend a lot of time with them, and it will change your life. No one is here today because they did it on their own. ...take your risks now. As you get older, you become more fearful and less flexible...

You never know what is around the corner unless you peek. Hold someone's hand while you do it. You will feel less scared. You can't do this alone. Besides it is much more fun to succeed and fail with other people. You can blame them when things go wrong.
Try to keep your mind open to possibilities and your mouth closed on matters that you don't know about. Limit your "always" and your "nevers." Continue to share your heart with people even if its been broken.
When you feel scared, hold someone's hand and look into their eyes. And when you feel brave, do the same thing. You are all here because you are smart. And you are brave. And if you add kindness and the ability to change a tire, you almost make up the perfect person.

I have 3819 saved text messages from one person on my phone. I attempted to read through the majority of them. There were conversations that made me laugh, want to cry, some I couldn't even interpret, and others that showed that, much to contrary belief, I can be a pretty damn good friend.

It's weird to think about all you forget about. Sometimes you even forget about things that have changed you, yet you did not notice until you had a chance to look back or are reminded.

Junior year was a tough year. I survived and came out different, yet the same.

This past summer held many adventures. I loved this summer.

The current school year has had a few ups and downs. Not to shabby. My abs have gotten a good workout because of all the laughing that has been going on.

It's crazy how much we forget.

Playlist- 80s Music

One of my favorite things to do is put 80s pop on my pandora and dance. When I am home alone of course. It gets bad. Think Tom Cruise sliding across the floor in nothing except a shirt, underwear, and socks with a guitar. If you dont know what I am talking about than you have not lived. Replace the guitar with my cat and that is me! Head banging, singing, some air guitar and drums, and every once in a while I grab something to use as a microphone. That description is making me sound extremely lame. Any way listening to 80s music makes me feel like I was born in the wrong generation. I love being a 90s kid and all but the 80s seemed like a pretty awesome time. To bad I missed it.

You know you grew up in the Church when...

You remember going to some sort of midweek bible group such as Awana, Youth Group, etc.

People have said, "Come to youth group, it's so fun, you'll love it!" And when you declined, they didn't acknowledge you anymore.

Your parents do not approve of secular music.

You attended a christian music festival.

If a worship song had hand motions you knew them by heart.

You own multiple bibles because it's a popular gift choice.

You memorized bible verses every week for you could earn prizes.

Summer camp=Bible camp

Veggie tales were the only vegetables you liked.

A "good" prayer involves doubling up on names- Dear Lord Jesus, Dear Heavenly father, or Dear Father God were always popular.

You cant say a prayer without saying, "just".

You went on mission trips to third world countries.

Everybody seemed so worried about you staying "pure". Purity Ring. Check. True Love Waits Pledge. Check. Multiple bible studies on the subject. Check.

You have at least one T-Shirt that has some God related thing on it.

You participated in "See You at the Pole"

Everybody seemed so interested to hear your testimony.

Halloween? I think not. You went to Trunk or Treat or a Harvest festival.

You do or once have sponsored a kid.

You own something that has "WWJD" written on it.

Someone always started dating at the youth retreat.

You were shocked to hear that some people sleep in on Sundays.

Someone always made you feel not Godly enough.

You felt so sheltered once you entered the real world.

*My intent is not to offend anyone. I grew up in the church and some of these things I just find funny*

You've come so far, well done darling
We knew that you had it in you
You can do anything that you want, world is an oyster, dont dissapoint us
You can stand on your own two feet, you can lead me through the streets
Pave the way, so we can dream dreams, noone else can see what you made me see
Still climbing trees, tripping up over fallen leaves, but holding hands
No one else could ever understand what it's like between us

Life's not fair

With my high school days coming to an end lots of decisions have to be made. What college do I want to attend? What do I want to major in? Where do I see my life going? All of these questions are important and every person chooses a different path. I find it fascinating to see the different plans we have the future. All of our grand schemes were influenced somehow or another by things in our past. Whether these things be big or small, they have an impact on where we go from here.

My Dad followed his dreams of being a business owner. Would I ever want to be a business owner? Hell no. I have seen him struggle countless times to keep his company going, deal with sucky employee's, and get riped off by customers. Some would think that seeing my Dad continue to follow his dream, after all the crap he goes through, would inspire me to follow my dreams to the fulliest. Instead, it made me tone down in the dream department. I have never won a spelling bee, never have I gotten a lead role in a play, been chosen first for a sports activity, been called the smartest or the prettiest. In other words, I have learned from a young age that some people can work their ass off and come out with nothing and others do not have to bat an eyelash to accomplish something. Thats how life works.

Well, that was fun.

Swimming like a fish

I was suppose to be productive this weekend. Somehow Sunday just creeped its way in. All of a sudden I looked at my clock and it was 9 o'clock and I needed to get stuff done. Low and behold my friend Sarah comes barging through my door with a bag that shouts, "haha and you thought you were going to accomplish something tonight." Apparently, Sunday night has turned into a sleepover. I sure wish my friend would involve me in her plans that involve my bed and studying habits.

Texting away...

I had a texting conversation that lasted a whole 30 seconds....

Katie @ 9:20: Katherine and I are doing gyro's and swimming. Alex and a couple of friends are going . Wanna come?

Me @ 9:20: Yes.

Katie @ 9:21: GET OUT HERE! I'm in your driveway.

In the midst of my rushing, I forgot my bikini bottom. Swimming in underwear is socially acceptable for me now. After swimming none of us changed and just ran to the car. I am so ready for summer! Last summer I walked into the house just wearing my bikini and my parents thought it was the strangest thing. I thought it would be funny if we would have gotten pulled over by a cop.

Boys being boys
Back to swimming. I went with some old neighborhood kids. My friend Katie and I are the babies of that generation. We have some old neighbor kids( adults now) that are in college, married with kids, married without kids, have kids without being married, two in jail, a heroin addict, a few we lost track of, and then the babies are about to graduate high school. I miss the old days of jumping on the trampoline, playing "house", and just being a kid.
The girls.

My favorite one liner from last night...

Rosa: Did you shave your legs? Whats the occasion?

Gotta love living in a cold climate.

My ex-boyfriend from middle school(Does that even count as a boyfriend?) is going to Yale next year. I am over here wondering how I am going to afford Winona State University and he is over there flaunting his acceptance to Yale. I hope you enjoy paying  $58,600 a year in tuition! Have fun paying off that debt smarty. I hate people... especially you!

Rant over. Sorry you all had to read that. He was an asshole.

Congratulations on getting accepted into an Ivy League. Im sure you deserve it.

Left brained

According to this chart I am left brained.
I like planning, I am rational, I like reading the directions, I am very realistic(I don't let being let down), and I do not like working in groups.
Some of the exceptions are that I hate classical music, I suck at math and science, and I am not a fan of dogs.
My right brained qualities are that I am a cat lover, I can be impulsive, I love a good mystery, I like background music, and I process better when I have an answer and then work back to the starting point.
Overall, I think I have a decent mix of both sides.

"She wasted all her school time wanting to be the age she is now, and she'll waste all the rest of her life trying to stay that age. Her whole idea is to race on to the silliest time of one's life as quick as she can and then stop there as long as she can..."

I love this quote from the Chronicles of Narnia. Its talking about Susan. The oldest girl and the only one to be left behind. If you read the books, looking at them in a christian way, she was denied access to heaven when she stopped believing in Narnia.

So many people, myself included, rush through life. We cant wait until we reach what we believe to be the "perfect" age. What is the perfect age any way? Sure, you might have goals and dreams that you hope to accomplish by a certain age and you believe that once that happens, life will be everything you have ever wanted. So what if you rush through life, get to that dream age, and realize its not any better? You will never get that time back.

I don't have anything else to say about this. It has just been on my mind recently. I could not wait for my life to finally start. Today, I find myself holding tight to the fleeting days of high school, because I am not ready for it to end.
