Bob Marley

I love this stage of life!
It is a little scary because there is a lot of unknowns.
It is also exciting because I am young and have a whole life ahead of me.

Some of the perks of my age include....
seeing friends go from awkward high school freshmen to awkward college freshmen.
going with friends to get tattoos in places that have scary masks in corners, Bob Marley smoking a joint on the wall, and the smell of pot.

bathroom pictures that are still perfectly acceptable and the fact that we all have fabulous bodies, that can pull off form fitting dresses.

being able to joke that being a "crazy cat lady" is in our future because we have no clue what the future actually looks like.

having the ability to eat whatever I want (Pretzel sticks with beer dip, Wonton tacos, and boneless BBQ buffalo wings) and not have to count calories.

Life is good.

Conversation with Mr. Tattoo Man

Zac: Do you have any tattoos?
Me: No. I'm getting my first one on my 18th birthday.
Zac: Nice! Fresh skin. I suggest eating an hour before you come in. I don't suggest being hungover or drunk. I know it's your birthday. You can drink afterwards. It will probably help if you have any discomfort after your tat is finished.
Me: Duly noted.

He did notice I said I was turning 18, right?

Phone pics

I was going through my phone pics and found these.
They were taken in the fall and I couldn't help but smile when I saw them.
They brought back good memories.

Flip a coin

It is weird to think that my parents were once my age. They had their whole life ahead of them and they had dreams and goals similar to what I have. I highly doubt the life they have now is the one they envisioned at 17. That scares me. There is so much to do and see. I wonder if they look back on their life and wished they had done things differently. I once wanted the typical american lifestyle. Graduate high school, graduate college, find a dream job, get married, have babies, raise a family, and retire.I'm not so sure that I want that anymore.

That plan does not involve not having a plan.

I feel lost when I look at the plan I have been following and I feel lost when I look past it.

My dad played by the rules and got burned.
My mom didn't play by the rules and got burned.

Maybe, I will just flip a coin.

Sydney Bean

Sydney Bean, this is our first picture of just the two of us.
We were freshmen and dressed up as vampires.
Who's idea was that?
If it was mine then it was a fantastic idea!
We were only fourteen years old.
That sounds really young but it was only four short years ago.
Today you are turning eighteen!
You have changed so much since that picture.
I know you were afraid that people will only remember you for being quiet.
That's not even true.
They will remember how you were always willing to listen, how you had a big heart, and have a work ethic I have always been jealous of.
Of course, you have so many more qualities but I'll save those for the next birthday blog post.
Those qualities are so important.
You are an important puzzle piece of our friendship dynamic.
Yes, I did crop Sarah and Shannon out of this picture.
Oh well.
I can't wait to see what adulthood has in store for you.
I'm sure you will be an awesome adult.
Happy Birthday Ginger!

Funny stuff

I just randomly found this in my drafts. I dont remember what I was going to do with all of these but it brought back some good memories.
  • Sarah give cut her "bangs" during English class.
  • Went to Sarah's uncles cabin for some good ole' friend time. Which is also where Ginger Support Group started!
  • Sledding and eating Steve's muffins
  • Walked on the Jesus! Or not. It was frozen.
  • Started my first real job. By real, I mean that my parents didnt help me get it! I love working at Pizza Ranch for the most part. I have met a lot of great people and probably gained some weight from all the free food.
  • Sarah played softball. We made a bet last year, that if I joined choir, she would join softball. Even if she won't admit it, it was fun! I enjoyed sneaking up behind her and catching the ball, watching her freak out when a ball was heading her way, smile when she actually caught a ball, etc. It was a fun time!
  • Prom 2012. I crossed off prom from my list of to-do's in high school. It was at the botanical gardens and the theme was An Evening in Paris. It was pretty close to what I imagined it would be like.
  • Eric, my boyfriend, got in a car accident.
  • Got into the National Honor Society
  • Had the best mid-week sleepover with Chelsey, Sydney, and Sarah.
  • Went camping in Wisconsin Dells. While at Mt.Olympus Sydney decided to flash everyone in the wave pool.
  • Went to see Mariana's Trench
  • Went to Door County with the girls
  • Started my Home Health Aide class and my  college english class. I met a ton of fun and amazing people during those classes!
  • Boots and Cleo had their first date. They are ment to be!
  • I went to Haiti again.
  • Went to Six Flags Great America with Eric, Katie, and Jenea. I almost pulled a Sydney by flashing everyone in the wave pool.
  • Senior retreat.
  • Last first day of high school.
  • Went to Chicago with Sarah
  • Last Homecoming
  • Went to see Eric Church, Kip Moore, and Justin Moore in concert with my girls!

Being Happy

"Maybe the truth is there's a little bit of loser in all of us you know, being happy isn't having everything in your life being perfect. Maybe it's about stringing together all the little things. Making those count more then the bad stuff. Maybe we just get through it and that's all we can ask for."

Country Music

Over the years I have gotten a lot of crap for liking country music. Some of those haters I managed to change into country music lovers. I love country music because it speaks my language. The lyrics can sum up my feelings or events in my life perfectly. It is perfect music to have in the background while camping with your friends or you can have it on full blast while driving down the street. People judge it when they hear the fiddle or the yeehaws, but if they would give it a chance, I think they would fall in love with the lyrics.

"Back when the world was flat and mama and daddy didn't have a clue
That was back Back when a pitcher of beer and a couple shots made me bulletproof
Back when god was a name I used in vain to get a point across when I got ticked off
Lord I'm learning so much more
Than back when I knew it all"

-Montgomery Gentry(Back when I knew it all)

"But if those girls were being honest that have been where you're at
I'd bet they'd tell you they wish they had their innocence back"

-Kellie Pickler (Don't you know you're beautiful)

"These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
but your gonna miss this"

-Toby Keith(You're gonna miss this)

"Eighteen years had come and gone
For momma they flew by
But for me they drug on and on
We were loading up that Chevy
Both tryin' not to cry
Momma kept on talking
Putting off good-bye"

-Carrie Underwood (Dont forget to remember me)

"How could 18 years just up'n walk away?
Our little pony-tail girl grown up to be a woman
Now she's gone in the blink of an eye
She left the suds in the bucket and the clothes hangin' out on the line

-Sara Evans (Suds in the Bucket)

"And now I know why the all the trees change in the fall
I know you were on my side even when I was wrong
And I love you for giving me your eyes
For staying back and watching me shine
And I didn't know if you knew, so I'm takin' this chance to say
That I had the best day with you today"

-Taylor Swift (The Best Day)

"I go back to the smell of an old gym floor
The taste of salt on the Carolina shore
After graduation and drinkin' goodbye to friends
And I go back to watchin summer fade to fall
Growin' up too fast and I do recall
Wishin' time would stop right in its tracks
Every time I hear that song, I go back, I go back

-Kenny Chesney (I Go Back)

"You got so much up ahead, you'll make new friends
You should see your kids and wife
And I'd end by saying have no fear
These are nowhere near the best years of your life"

-Brad Paisley (Letter To Me)

"There's mistakes that I have made,
Some chances I just threw away,
Some roads,
I never should have taken,
Been some signs I didn't see,
Hearts that I hurt needlessly,
Some wounds,
That I wish I could have one more chance to mend,
But it don't make no difference,
The past can't be rewritten,
You get the life you're given,
Oh, some pages turned,
Some bridges burned,
But there were,
Lessons learned."

- Carrie Underwood (Lessons Learned)
