Degrees of Separation

"Six degrees of separation is the theory that anyone on the planet can be connected to any other person on the planet through a chain of acquaintances that has no more than five intermediaries. "

I love this theory, because it makes the world seem even smaller! I have a major woman crush on Chelsea Handler and I just recently found out that I have a connection!

Victoria's uncle works as a camera man on the walking dead. Earlier in his career he worked on a movie with Charlize Theron. Charlize Theron is friends with Chelsea Handler and would often appear on her late night show!

1. Victoria*
2. Victoria's Uncle
3. Charlize Theron
4. Chelsea Handler
That would make 4 degrees of separation. Charlize Theron is also friends with Jennifer Aniston, Sandra Bullock, and is dating Sean Penn. Victoria's uncle also worked on Michael Jackson's tour which connects with almost every well known celebrity. So what does this mean? That I know people, who know people, who know people, who know people, etc. I know the six degrees of separation is just a theory, but in my life it is proving itself to be true! I just need to make those degree of separation shorter and weasel myself into her Chelsea's life! I mean I'm practically in her circle of friends already.... ;)

*I could honestly knock Victoria off of this list, because I have partied at her Uncle's house in Florida, have talked to the guy, and his family has seen me drunk. Oh the possibilities! I'm also suppose to add that her uncle is a very nice and humble man.

High on life

It's hard to describe how I have been feeling lately.
I've been really high on life.
Late at night Victoria and I have such deep conversations about life and all that it entails.
We talk about how we really want to live life and not just go through the motions.
Society tells you what an ideal life looks like, but you should be the one creating the life you truly want. If you want your life to be about getting married and having babies, go for it. If you want to climb the ladder to success, great! If you want to drop everything and travel the world, I will be jealous of you. If you have no idea what you want out of life, go on as many adventures as you can to figure it out.

"If you don't make the time to work on creating the life you want, you're eventually going to be forced to spend a lot of time dealing with a life you don't want." -Kevin Ngo

How true is that quote? Life is short. Our time on this earth will pass quickly. I hope that I will be able to look back on the good parts and know that I lived the life I wanted. I hope that I will be able to look at the bad parts and be able to see how I took those experiences and allowed myself to grow from them.

I guess I could say that I've been feeling on top of the world lately.
I don't remember ever feeling this happy or content in my life.
I still stress over college, work at a place I'm not fond of, watch kids who manage to drive me absolutely crazy(Yet have me wrapped around their fingers), wonder where I will be in 10 years, etc.
I'm just learning to take every day for what it is worth.

I'm a big fan of puberty!

I had a rough couple years between middle school and now.
I also have a very similar hairstyle to the one I had in 8th grade.
Which is not surprising, because I'm not a risk taker when it comes to my hair.

Week Update

Winter break is such a good time!
Saturday Victoria and I went to a house party with the guys.
Victoria's phone went missing and two days later was found in a cereal box.
Thanks guys.
Victoria got called a slut by some asshole, because she likes hugging people when she is drunk.
I then got called a bitch by the same guy, because I was questioning why he would even say such a ridiculous thing.
No voices were raised and no fighting occurred!
I was very proud of us for dealing with him in such a civil way.
That guy also happens to be one of Andy's best friends.
So that went over real well.
Apparently, someone also peed on his car door handles that night.
Under normal circumstances I would feel bad for the kid, because that is just cruel, but after my night with him he kind of deserved anything coming to him.

On Tuesday, Victoria and I had a date night with each other. We both got $25 gift certificates to Longhorn Steakhouse. We got the most expensive steaks that we have ever had and they were amazing! Victoria's phone was still missing so we had a phone free evening. I really loved it! We had each others full attention. I don't remember the last time I have had dinner without the distraction of a phone.
On Wednesday, I had my CNA state exam. I hadn't looked over the material since May and I was certain I was going to fail. I ended up passing, even with my stuttering during the skills exam part. My partner for the skills part didn't pass, which was a shock to me, because I thought she did a lot better!

On Thursday, we had a girls night, plus our DD's to and from the bar.
We pre-gamed at our house and Andy drove us to the bar.
Andy had to work the next morning, so Selner offered to drive us back home.

We were just at a small country bar, but it was a blast!
I ended up meeting this nice old lady named Frankie.
She was just drinking water, but she handled my drunk self fantastically!
We talked about religion, politics, Haiti, and nursing school.
We had the same views on religion and politics, she has the opportunity to go to Haiti for a month(I went to Haiti twice), and she is a nurse who graduated from the college I'm attending!

Our bartender Mouse was pretty cool too. I found out that my Uncle Keith actually bar tends at her bar on Sundays! What a small world. Hopefully I represented the family well.

We ended up leaving the bar around 1:30 and headed to Blackstone.
Blackstone is a restaurant that is open 24/7 which is perfect for drunk people.
We made friends with the waitress and a guy named Marc.

I ended up getting burned from a car cigarette lighter.
That's what I get from trying to save my friends lungs!
I have a nice circular burn on my hand.

We danced, a drank, we ate, we played pool, and we went home and crashed.
It was a great Thirsty Thursday and a lovely way to celebrate my half birthday!

The Fight

When we weren't exploring Florida, swimming in the ocean, kayaking with gators, or at Universal we were at Victoria's Oma's house or swimming in her pool.
Eleven people were in that house for 9 days.
That included Victoria's mother(Christina), two sisters(Angela and Eva), one brother(Josh), Christina's boyfriend Ron, Angela's boyfriend Eddie, Josh's boyfriend Damian, Victoria, Olivia, Oma, and Me.
There was some family drama which was very entertaining.
Oma can be very sweet, until you piss her off.
She never yelled at me or Olivia, but no one else was as lucky.
She also doesn't believe in using microwaves.
So the family has one hidden in the garage to use.
I almost got caught walking in from the garage with my bowl of spaghetti.
How do you explain something like that?

My favorite night was when Victoria, Olivia, and I got in a fight with Angela's boyfriend Eddie.
He is 45 years old, doesn't have a job, doesn't own a car(or have a license) and literally spends all of his time upstairs playing video games. I only saw him at night when he came down to grab something to eat and then he would go back to play video games.

One night he started yelling at Angela, because she didn't want to drive him to the gym at 10pm.
Eddie treats her like shit all the time and Victoria flipped a lid on him this time.
When he started to throw insults at Victoria, Olivia and I stepped in to defend her and Angela.
It was great!
Three 19 year old girls fighting with a 47 year old black guy.

I don't remember a lot about the fight, but I remember him trying to justify not having a job and it was a total fail on his part.

Rae: Why don't you get a job and do something with your life!
Eddie: I can't. I don't have a car.
Olivia: You could always ride a bike.
Rae: Why don't you have a car?
Eddie: I don't have a license.
Rae: Why don't you have a license?
Eddie: I lost it because I got a DUI.
Rae: Woah! What a keeper! You're such a dumb ass. Did you really think that was going to make me feel bad for you?

This went on for hours!
It was either us three yelling at Eddie or Angela talking with Eddie "alone" while we all listened in from another room. Victoria even got a little physical with him, but I would have too if he was saying that kind of shit about my family. Everyone, except Eddie, thought it was hilarious watching us fight with him.

This is the second time within a months time that I have fought with a guy. It's always entertaining, but I hope it's not an on going trend. I was enjoying my drama free life.

Hiking in Florida

We did a lot of hiking and exploring in Florida.
Florida has a lot of beautiful places to go explore.
It was beautiful to see, but accidentally stepping on an alligator was a constant fear.

Victoria has spent a lot of summers in Florida and couldn't believe how much she missed out on during those summers.
We barely saw any people on the trails we were on, which is a shame, because the weather was perfect for hiking.
The locals are missing out!

We went swimming and kayaking at Wekiva Springs/Wekiva River.
There is a natural spring that feeds into the gator infested river.

We kayaked about two miles down the river and another two miles back up.
Kayaking down stream was a breeze, but going back up was not the most enjoyable experience.
There have only been a few gator attacks here, but that fact did not make me feel any more comfortable.

We ended up all coming out of the experience alive!
Every once in a while my paddle would hit a log in the water and I'd freak out for a second thinking it was a gator.

We swam in the spring for a while.
It's directly connected to the river and gators can come and go as they please.
The water is crystal clear so that made me a little less afraid.
The water was so warm!

Wekiva was probably one of my favorite experiences in Florida.
We were surrounded by nature and taking in all it had to offer.

Victoria's Oma (Grandma) offered to buy us tickets to Universal Studios.
She ended up getting us both park tickets(universal has two different parks) and fast passes.
She went above and beyond for us!
It was such a nice thing to do.
The fast pass allowed us to bypass the lines.
We pretty much managed to get on every ride we wanted to go on in a few hours because of the fast pass.
It's kind of pricey, but so worth it!

I was most looking forward to the Harry Potter part.
It was magical!
We got butterbeer, got to go on the Hogwarts Express, visit Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley.
If you're a Harry Potter fan I highly suggest going.
I honestly forgot that I was a muggle for a little while.

I started to feel sick after we went on a ton of rides right in a row.
Olivia and Victoria were hungry and I specifically said, "If I eat something and go on a ride I'm going to puke." I ended up eating a large slice of pizza any way.

Two rides later I ended up puking.
It was definitely not the highlight of the trip, but I felt a lot better!

My favorite ride was Transformers. It's like a 4D experience.
I can't even explain it.
I honestly felt like I was directly in the action and running away from the bad guys.
Universal was a lot of fun, but I dont know how people get multiple day passes.
A single day there was long enough for me!

We went to two different beaches while in Florida.
The first one was called New Symrna.
You could drive and park on the actual sand.
It was not busy so we had a whole section to ourselves.
The waves were fairly large, especially if you swam out far enough.

For lunch, we got some legit seafood at a cute little restaurant not far from the beach.
I'm glad that I have started to like seafood, because it is so yummy!

We only spent a few hours at this beach, because it was getting windy.
We managed to get some cute pictures during our time there.

The second beach we visited was Clearwater Beach.
That entire area is aimed at tourists, which meant it took forever to make it through traffic, but it was worth it!
We all bought bucket hats to rock on the beach.
They were a success!

At first, the water was chilly, but once you got in it was really refreshing!
We spent a lot of time swimming, walking the boardwalk, laying out on the beach, and just taking in the day.

We brought two cars down to the beach, but Josh's broke down at the beach.
We then had to pile 8 people into a small truck.
It was a long 2 hour drive back.

Olivia has a GoPro which we had a blast with.
You can take amazing pictures under the water, etc.
She also had a selfie stick for it.

It was nice being at the beach, while everyone back at home was complaining about negative degree weather.
Going back home will be a shock to the system.
I'm glad I soaked up as much sun as possible!
