Minnesota, South Dakota, Wyoming, and Utah

Our summer road trip has officially begun!
We originally planned on leaving Sunday, but Friday night we got antsy and decided to hit the road at 10pm.
No one thought that we would get very far the first day, but 24 hours later we found ourselves at my Aunts house in Idaho.

We all took turns driving and attempting to sleep.
Not much sleeping was going on, but we were going off of adrenaline.

We drove through Minnesota in the middle of the night and didn't stop anywhere cool.
In South Dakota we went to a place where you could feed prairie dogs, Wall Drug, and Mt.Rushmore.

We ended up sleeping for 30 minutes in the parking ramp at Mt.Rushmore.
I'm sure people thought we were crazy.

Wyoming was a hard drive!
We were all exhausted and just wanted to be at our destination.
At times we would go 20+ miles without seeing a house in Wyoming.
Some parts were beautiful, but after 9 hours we all hated Wyoming.
We finally made it to Bear Lake in Idaho and surprised everyone on our timing.
Eight hours of sleep in a bed never felt so good.

Country USA

Country USA is a huge country music festival.
I've always wanted to go and this year my dad got me 4 tickets!
My friend Sarah lives in Oshkosh and invited us to stay with her and her roommates.

The first night we arrived late and got to see Miranda Lambert!
I have never been a huge Miranda fan, but she was amazing in concert.
I like her a lot now!
It took us 2 hours to get out of the parking lot after the concert!
We were entertained by a guy driving a rapist type van with purple lights inside.
We was drunk and doing donuts in the field.

The next day we started drinking early at Sarah's place.
We played yard games, danced on the porch, drank beer from a funnel, etc.
Pretty typical college activities.

We were all feeling really good as a packed ourselves into the car to head to CUSA.
There was a lot of drama that night and Victoria lost her phone while totally wasted.
Lee Brice performed, but I wasn't paying a lot of attention to him.
We also didn't have a ride home so all six of us hitch hiked...
We separated into two different groups.
I got to go with Kyle and Victoria who happened to be the drunkest of the bunch.
We found a ride with a nice couple!
First hitch hiking experience was a success.

The next day was more low key.
Sydney ended up getting wasted and was our entertainment for the night.
We danced a lot and The Eli Young Band performed.
They were not that great.

Sydney ended up getting mad and "ran away" when we arrived at Sarah's.
We were a little worried when an hour went by and she still hadn't returned.
She eventually came back and brought Selner along with her.
It was an interesting night.

Friday night Victoria and I decided to head home.
Victoria had lost her phone and needed a new one.
We also planned on leaving for our trip the next night.
Once we returned we found out that someone found Victoria's phone and had to drive all the way back.

A few hours later we left on our two month long roadtrip...

I had a wonderful time with my girls!
I hate that I am missing out on a fun summer with them, but this was a nice way to get to spend a few days with them.

House Party

On Friday night my parents were out of town.
It was the perfect opportunity to have a party in the other part of the house.
Unfortunately, a lot of our friends couldn't make it.
And a lot of people who normally don't come to our parties could make it.
Go figure.
It was an odd night, because we had a lot of different types of people show up.
We still had a lot of fun and emptied a few liquor bottles.

My friend Alicia showed up.
It had been almost a year and a half since I had last seen her.
We mainly talked about the past, which could have gone on forever, because we have so many memories together.
We grew up together, dealt with the same shit at our church, and have so many people we could talk about.
We are very different people now and will probably never have the same relationship we once did, but having someone to go down memory lane with is always a special treat.

Victoria and I are truly blessed with some awesome people in our lives.
We lucked out and our friend groups really mesh well.
These parties will only get better as time goes on!

It will be a few months before we have another house party.
This past year has been a blast.
Our house parties have probably resulted in some of my favorite memories!
I look forward to returning at the end of summer and seeing what the next year holds.

Quotes

When your roommate worries about what your family thinks of her....
Victoria: Julie already thinks I'm an alcoholic and now she's going to think I'm a psychopath. I know your family already judges me, because of your snap chats.

Hippy house
Victoria: Your house smells like nature and essential oils.
Hille: Must be the pile of compost on my counter

I'll never understand how the mind of a 5 year old works...
My Mom: You two are going to make great moms one day!
Sam: But I'm going to be single.

Works great. Fines are great.
Warhol: She got fired twice.
Hille: It was only once, but I'm working on my second time. Can you grab me that envelope?
Warhol: Is that another fine, mom?

Logic...
Anna: Let's get mexican food for I don't have to put on a bra.

That damn library...
Hille: The library once sued me for $556...late fees man.

Those pens...
Brittney: Can you grab me the pen, please?
Sam: Mom, you said penis!
Brittney: I did not say penis.
Sam: You just said it again!

Bloody Mary and Wingss

On Friday night, I wanted to binge watch Orange is the New Black, but Anthony wanted to get dinner. We went from lets just have dinner to lets have a few drinks with friends.

We started at a local Brewery that has a bar attached to it.
Stephanie walked up to me and said, "How was your 30th, Brittney?" and we just laughed it off.
I remembered seeing Stephanie in pictures, but don't remember her actually there the night of "Brittneys" birthday.
She found it hilarious that I didn't remember who she was, but we are facebook friends now and we shared a fishbowl...so that makes up for my bad memory.

We went to three different bars in search of wings and finally found some on our third try.
Bloody marys and wings is the most combination!

We did a lot of dancing and watching the guys dance was hilarious.
Their dance moves were the definition of "white boy".

We ended the night at Kwik Trip for burgers and chicken tenders along with half of Green Bay at bar close. My attempt at drinking a lot of water didn't seem to help my head the next day. I did manage to survive going to work, helping Brittney pack up her basement, meeting Chelseys baby, and attend a graduation party. Life of an alcoholic.

Can't Press Pause

It's easy to look back on your life and say that you miss "those" days and that you want to go back. But one day, you will be saying that about right now. Great memories are made all the time and sometimes you just don't realize it until it's gone. So enjoy the present, because there are no pause, rewind, or fast forward buttons in life.

First Dates and Coral

Brittney's match making skills are off to a good start.
I went out to dinner with her brother Anthony on Tuesday night.
The picture below is with Victoria, Brittney, Anthony, and me at the start of the night.
Brittney had been mentioning her brother to me for months!
She started before I broke up with Andy and apparently she has been mentioning me a lot to her brother as well.

Of course, the first time we meet it involves a ton of alcohol, but if he can give me this look and still want my number, maybe I didn't leave that terrible of an impression!
We also both wore the color coral that night which was a nice bonding point.

For our date we meet up downtown. He showed up on his crotchrocket and asked if I wanted a ride. Of course, I was wearing a dress and my gladiator sandals, because I was not planning on hopping on a motorcycle that night. Good thing my mom insisted I wear spandex shorts under my dress, because I got on the bike. I hope I got some brownie points for that! We then ate at a restaurant right on the river. We had Bloody Marys and tuna wraps. Ordering the same thing was not planned.

I had a really nice time! I'm terrible at first dates, but always manage to survive.
He's one of those guys that body builds and I've never gone out with a "gym" guy.
Now that I'm almost 20 I decided it was time to branch out and try new things.
So we will see how this ends up.
I'm leaving on my trip soon, so I'm not expecting much to come out of this other than a friendship, but you never know.

Nanny Life 101

My life as a nanny is coming to an end. It has been an interesting year to say the least. I got to be a part of an amazing little family, watch three kids transform over a year, and I learned a thing or two. I compiled a list of things I have learned because of the little humans in my life.

1. Being able to change a "bad" word into a word that most likely involves food

I swear like a sailor and apparently you're not suppose to do that around little kids? I have become very good at switching my "fucks" into "fudge" etc. This is all done mid-word and it saves the day. It also means that I don't have to deal with a 5 year old glaring and reprimanding me for my choice of wording!

2. Going with the flow

Someday's I have fun activities planned, but if a moody kid is involved those plans sometimes go south. I have learned to roll with the punches and not expect everything to go as planned. Have you ever had to drag two four years old out of a McDonalds playland, because they didn't want to leave? Well, I have and it was...interesting.

3. Patience

Trying to prevent a complete meltdown from occurring in the middle of Target takes a lot of patience! Waiting for a child to complete a task that they clearly need help with, but insist on doing themselves takes a lot of patience. Did you notice the pattern yet? Taking care of kids involves a lot of patience!

4. Cars are not meant to stay clean

I love having a clean car! Before I started transporting little children my car was pretty clean except for the occasional stray piece of clothing or a bottle of alcohol rolling around. Then I added two car seats to the back and shit got real. I have so many foot prints on the back of my seat/head rest! Wrappers, random pieces of food, and spilled juice are currently all over my back seats. The old me would have never allowed that to happen! The new me has learned that children are not clean creatures and trying to keep things clean around them is next to impossible.

5. So many questions and not enough answers

Having to come up with a million different answers to questions sounds easy, but it's not. Even if I have the correct answer I most likely will have a difficult time making it appropriate/understandable for a 5 year old.

6. My taste in music would not make Jesus proud

It's crazy how a song sounds perfectly fine when you're alone and then that exact same song decides to include swear words and has inappropriate lyrics when a child enters the picture. I'm still trying to convince Sam that the song GDFR by Flo Rida is not her favorite song. Remember lesson number #5? Here is a perfect example of a question that Flo Rida made Sam ask, "What's a freak? How come she's going home with him?"

7. You tend to forget about all of the bad things

Ever have a little kid crawl up next to you and cuddle during a movie? Or randomly have one say they love you? It melts my heart and all of a sudden I can't remember why I was googling if it is illegal to duct tape kids to chairs.

8. We don't give kids enough credit

I have learned so much from Sam this past year. Kids have such an amazing view on the world and as adults we tend to miss those things. She has taught me a lot and I love hearing her opinion on things.

Road Trip Planning Update

1. Our schedule is set which means we can start couch surfing! What exactly is couch surfing? It's an app where you can connect with people willing to let you crash on their couch(floor or spare room works also) or you can let people stay with you! Victoria used it in Europe. It sounds a little scary, but people do it all the time and make it out alive! We have a few confirmed places to stay and are working on finding more!

2. Olivia had some stuff come up so she is only coming for three weeks. It makes the trip a little more expensive for Victoria and I, but we are still wanting to make it the entire two months together! This should be interesting.

3. We are staying with a lot of family members and our schedule fit with all of our different family members so well. It is such a relief knowing that we have family to meet along the way!

Thirty, flirty, and thriving

This is Victoria and I before Brittney's surprise 30th birthday party.
We think that we are about to go have a low key night with a group of people a decade older than us.
We thought wrong...very wrong.

Brittney's friends, a few of her brothers, her husband, and us met up at Nakashimas for sushi.
Brittney had no idea and was so shocked to see us all at the restaurant.
My wine class was never empty, my drink with bourbon tasted like kool-aid, and that group shot left me feeling pretty good.

Brittney always is talking about her brothers, because she wants me to marry into the family.
So she attempted to play match maker the entire night.
It was awesome finally being able to meet the friends and family that I have heard so much about.

After dinner we headed over to Comedy City for an improv show.
I could not pay attention and our group eventually got kicked out.
Apparently, the audience is not allowed to add their own jokes to the show?
And something else about us being too loud...and drunk.

After the show we wanted to continue on with our night.
Ben and Brittney had to head home, because they are parents and have kids to worry about.
Just another reason not to have kids!
Always making you leave the party early.

So I became Brittney for the remainder of the night.
It was fun being 30 for a few hours!
We went to this small country bar where we sang karaoke, hula hooped, and took tons of shots.

Beth and I went around the bar telling guys that it was my 30th birthday.
We got a ton of free shots out of that.
People were surprised to hear that I was 30, but no one questioned it.

We somehow found ourselves at this strange bar inside a closed restaurant.
I'm not sure how we found ourselves in that place.
We didn't stay long.

One of the guys was craving crab rangoons.
Of course he manages to find a place open that sells them and orders the restaurants entire supply!
Crab rangoon has never tasted better.

Beth and Theresa dropped Victoria and I off at our house.
Anthony then messages us to come over to his place.
I thought it was a great idea as I was falling all over the place trying to cuddle my cat.

We arrived, hung out for a bit, and then I passed out on the couch.
The next morning I felt dead!
Partying with 30 year olds is not an easy feat.

Overall, I had a blast at Brittney's party even though she wasn't a part of it the entire night.
I felt like I knew her family and friends forever, because we all clicked so well.
The chances of all of us getting together again are small, but I enjoyed the time we had.
One minute I'm interviewing with a family for a nanny job and the next I'm partying with the family.
Life is good.
